Aims of the Course
This intensive and practical one day course is for experienced shooters who want to improve the aesthetic of their footage through the creative use of light. Practical exercises using a range of lights and accessories teach techniques and tips for lighting real-life documentary scenarios as well as using available light effectively.
Course Type
A mix of demonstration and hands-on practical.
- Tungsten / daylight / fluorescent and appropriate settings on camera
- Stands & cabling -- safety
- Reflectors, diffusion, tracing frames, reflected light, flags
- Properties and uses of various lights -- Redhead’s, Mizars, divas
- 3 point lighting and lighting an interview
- Mixing daylight and tungsten/gels
- Other lighting set-ups
This course is aimed at
Shooting producer/directors, APs, camera operators and anyone who needs to refine the quality of their images through capable lighting.
Pre-requisites
Some experience with cameras such as the Sony Z1
